Except where indicated, Information in the eMob database is taken directly from museum catalogues, many of which date back to the 19th century. Users are warned that there may be words and descriptions which may be culturally sensitive and which might not normally be used in certain public or community contexts. Terms and annotations which reflect the author's attitude or that of the period in which the item was written may be considered inappropriate today in some circumstances.
Access to eMob is restricted to members of the participating nations. In order to obtain a password please contact your eMob nation delegate. Access to information is specified according to your nation, and whether you class yourself as a senior man, senior woman, man, woman or child. You should discuss any issues relating to this with your eMob nation delegate.
As you browse the eMob database you will be presented with information that your eMob nation delegate has approved for your access. If at any time you feel that the information you see is inappropriate then please contact your eMob nation delegate.
You will only be able to see information that has been associated with objects from your nation. Currently information is associated on the basis of the location that is assigned to each object by the museum record. eMob participants have collectively agreed on what locations are considered to relate to which nations. Again if you feel that your nation is associated with inappropriate locations, or that you are not associated with locations that you feel you should be then please contact your eMob nation delegate. Users should be aware that information provided by the museum records varies greatly in detail in accuracy. This is one of the reasons why it is important to take photographs of each item.
One purpose of eMob is to facilitate direct communication between nations and curators. If you wish to contact the relevant museum curator for any reason, you can find their contact details in the Participant Museums section of eMob.
If you have any questions about the system or would like to provide comment and advice please contact us. Representatives of the participating museums may also log in to check the data stored about items which they curate. This is to ensure that eMob is representing museum catalogue information correctly and to facilitate communication between museums and participating nations.
